Hot Springs JazzFest

The 20th Annual Hot Springs JazzFest is coming Sept. 13-18, 2011!  With five full days of music, the festival is designed with every jazz lover in mind.  “The Joy of Jazz:  Vegas in the 60’s” kicks off the week with dinner, dancing, and a silent auction benefiting the FREE “Jazz in the Streets” concert.
Wednesday features some of Hot Springs finest piano players in “Piano Rama” at the Arlington Hotel’s Crystal Ballroom at 7pm; tickets $30 at the door.  Quapaw Baths & Spa is the venue for Thursday’s “Shirley Chauvin’s S’Wonderful” with Gerry Heidel on Sax.  Tickets $10, 6pm.
Learn from four nationally known musicians on Friday at music workshops hosted by Big Event Music for FREE (reservations required).  Finish up your day enjoying the cool sounds of the US Air Force “Shades of Blue” Jazz Ensemble at 7pm at Oaklawn Magnet School (FREE – tickets required).
Saturday’s highlight is “Jazz in the Streets”, an all-day outdoor concert featuring 6 different jazz ensembles.  Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy a day full of free music!  End the day with New Orleans’ “Nova NOLA” at the RayLynn Theater (7:30 pm; tickets $30 at the door).  Sunday winds down with a Jazz Mass at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, and then dance to your favorite big band tunes with “Stardust Big Band” at the Arlington Hotel’s Crystal Ballroom (3pm; tickets $8 at the door).
