Due to torrential rains last weekend, the Willie Tate Classic Memorial has been rescheduled for June 22, 2013, at DeGray Lake Golf Course . Tee time for the 3rd annual 4-person scramble will be 12:30 pm with all you can hit range balls prior to lunch at 11 am.
This event honors Arkadelphia’s Willie Tate, who was a beloved educator, coach and mentor. Coach Tate passed away after battling one of the most common types of progressive dementia. Courtyard Gardens Health and Rehab is sponsoring the event, and all proceeds will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association.
Entry fees are $50 per person or $200 per team and include 18 holes of golf, lunch, all you can hit range balls, and mulligans. Door prizes and gift bags will be given to all participants, along with prizes for “hole in one”, longest drive, and others. A silent auction will also be held with bidding items including “Gentle on my Mind” sheet music autographed by Arkansas’ Glenn Campbell, and a weekend getaway at Tiffany’s Bed and Breakfast.
