Things to do on a Rainy Day in Hot Springs

Don’t let a rainy day spoil your Hot Springs, Arkansas vacation.  There are lots of things to do and explore indoors as well!  Start off at one of the historic bathhouses.  Buckstaff Bathhouse offers the traditional services of a mineral bath, sitz bath, hot towel treatment, vapor cabinet, and needle shower, all with your own personal attendant to assist.  The Quapaw Baths and Spa invites visitors to enjoy the four thermal water soaking pools, as well as private bathing areas for couples.  Both bathhouses also offer massages and spa services to indulge yourself on a rainy day!  Not ready to jump in yet?  Take a self-guided tour of the Superior Bathhouse – the visitors’ center of Hot Springs National Park, and then shop for souvenirs in the Lamar Bathhouse, which contains the Bathhouse Row Emporium.  Stop for a bite to eat at Superior Bathhouse Brewery where beer is brewed using the famous thermal waters of Hot Springs.

Once you’re finished with Bathhouse Row, cross the street to The Gangster Museum of America.  A guided tour includes stories of Al Capone, Ben Siegel, and other infamous visitors – and how they spent their time in the Spa City.  If gangsters seem too wild for you, spend the afternoon at the newly renovated Mid America Science Museum.  This hands-on museum has undergone a $7.8 million renovation and now includes a digital dome theater and a science skywalk.  Trust us – it’s not just for kids!

Don’t forget to save some time for Tiny Town!  It’s one of the largest interactive model railroads we’ve ever seen. And it’s hand carved and handcrafted by one family started in the 1930’s!  For a little more action, stop at Big Axe Battleground and test your skill at axe throwing

Outdoor patio with a rocking chair and wooden swing, flowering hanging plants and a bird feeder. Our final rainy day suggestion comes from our guests:  spend the day making porch swing memories on our full-length front porch.  You might also enjoy soaking in the jetted tub of either The Ouachita or The Hamilton as you listen to the rain pitter-patter on the roof.  However you choose to spend your rainy day in Hot Springs, we guarantee your visit will be memorable!
