Where To Find Diamonds in Arkansas

While optimists and amateur prospectors enjoy immersing themselves in the mining experience offered at Crater of Diamonds State Park, we have sweetened the search. The first guest who finds a diamond will get their room night free of charge.

“With an average of one diamond a day found at this state park, it seems about time for one of our guests to strike it rich,” says owner Tiffany Bertram. “So, we’ve issued a challenge: Our first guest to find a diamond will win a free night at Tiffany’s Bed and Breakfast!white bucket, shovel, sifting screens, along with book and DVD - all used for diamond mining

The state park is a big draw for guests of the inn and Bertram felt the time was right to join forces with this destination attraction in Arkansas. “Everyone wants a getaway that’s an experience,” says Bertram.  “Well, this is the only place in the country where people can experience mining for diamonds.”

In 2020, one park visitor discovered a 9.07 carat diamond. It’s not as impressive as the 40.23 carat diamond unearthed in a mining operation in 1924, or the largest found by a park visitor in 1975, which was a 16.37 carat white diamond. However, it’s certainly notable and shows the potential finds on the park’s 37.5-acre diamond search area, which is the eroded surface of an ancient, diamond-bearing volcanic crater.  (Park staff plow the area periodically to loosen the soil and encourage the erosion process, so new finds are reported almost daily.)

“If someone is having a lucky day, then I think the fun should continue and they deserve a lucky night as well,” says Bertram.   To assist guests with the park experience the inn has created a 2-night Diamond Mining Package, which includes park admission for 2, the use of mining tools and borrowing the DVD “Genuine Diamonds Found in Arkansas.”

In order to claim the prize, guests must already be booked at the Inn, which is located 45 minutes from the park, and bring dated proof of their discovery back to the innkeeper. Winner agrees to allow Tiffany’s an option to use photos of the find and winner in future promotional campaigns.
