fireworks exploding in a dark night sky

As you know, July 4, 2018, is on a Wednesday, but that isn’t going to stop Hot Springs from celebrating all week long!  Lake Ouachita State Park will start the fun on June 29 with their Independence Day Celebration that runs through July 2.  They’re planning recreational activities, lake tours, and crafts all weekend, including a special Brady Mountain Fireworks barge tour on Saturday, June 30.

On Tuesday, July 3, Oaklawn Racing and Gaming will open their infield for the annual Spa Blast.  This free event features live music, food, drinks, and the “best fireworks display in town”!  The featured band will be Led Zepagain, a tribute to Led Zeppelin.

July 4 begins with the Freedom 5k Fun Run at Degray Lake Resort State Park.  An old fashioned patriotic Red, White and You Picnic in the Park will start at 10:30 a.m. in Hot Springs National Park on the Arlington Lawn.  Admission is free to this event featuring live entertainment, food, cupcake races, and educational exhibits by National Park staff.  Later that night, you can choose to watch the fireworks from either Lake Hamilton or DeGray Lake.

The fun doesn’t stop once the 4th has passed!  On Friday, 7/6, stroll downtown Hot Springs for Gallery Walk.  All the art galleries (and many other vendors) will stay open late to host openings of new exhibits, and local to international artists.  Magic Springs will host Toby Mac in concert on Saturday, 7/7, which is free with paid park admission.
